Sundar Pichai-1-1024x630Buffett stated that he would like to donate more than 80 per cent of his fortune to charitable causes. He increased that amount to 99.9 percent in 2020. The principal beneficiary was the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that was established by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his then wife, Melinda--which focused on issues of world health and education. Bill and Buffett kept a close friendship since the early 1990s. The other organizations that received contributions included those that Buffett's three children and the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, named in honor of his wife who passed away, which focused on women's reproductive rights and funded college scholarship programmes. The Giving Pledge was an invitation for wealthy individuals to contribute a substantial portion of their fortune to charities which was founded by Buffett and Gates in the year 2010.
